Lucid dreaming therapy (LDT) is a variation of imagery rehearsal therapy that leverages an alternate state of consciousness to target nightmares and psychological distress represented in dream content. LDT is unique in that it involves remembering one is dreaming, which can promote feelings of safety, psychological flexibility, and value driven behavior—key ingredients for therapeutic growth. Additionally, the realistic, creative, and emotional nature of dreams provide a unique context for LDT interventions to improve therapeutic outcomes.

Clinicians can play a critical role in furthering LDT as a science by using case formulations to guide treatment decisions and consider potential mechanisms for LDT outcomes. This live training will guide you in planning, justifying, and implementing LDT interventions using theoretically informed case conceptualizations. The course will begin with a review of proper assessment, case selection, induction protocols, and predominant treatment models that can inform LDT. The majority of the course will focus on real case examples to guide attendees in how to integrate various treatment approaches into LDT, including but not limited to cognitive-affective, dynamic, interpersonal, and neurovisceral approaches.

This Scheduled Asynchronous format delivers the course through prerecorded video sessions accompanied by a forum assignment and post-test. It offers a blend of flexibility and structure, with a set timeline for completion. While it does not include real-time interactions, timely feedback and moderated discussions are provided to enrich the learning experience. Participants are required to complete all components by the specified deadlines to progress through the course and earn CE credits.

To receive CE credits, you are expected complete all course requirements within a set timeline between July 28, 2025 to August 31, 2025.

This is Part II of our three-part Foundations Series on Lucid Dreaming Therapy. Foundations I and III are recommended, but not required to take this course.
